In the video below watermelon is being taunted as a possible replacement for viagra. While i will not go that far, watermelons do contain nutrients that can help with cardio-vascular health and thus help blood flow to the penis, which would aid harder erections. A recent finding about the benefits of watermelon on erectile dysfunction in men has been published in medical journals, like Urology. It seems researchers have discovered the fruit contains an enzyme that is related to normal male functioning. The enzyme is called L-citrulline.  L-Citrulline is used to treat Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, fatigue, muscle weakness, sickle cell disease, and erectile dysfunction. It works by increasing the supply of blood and other ingredients the body needs to make certain proteins and by opening up veins and arteries to improve blood flow–something that is important for normal male performance.   Approximately 75 percent of men with cholesterol-narrowed coronary arteries have some level of erectile dysfunction. Researchers have found that L-Citrulline is found naturally in watermelon. One study showed that men who ate L-Citrulline experienced up to a 68 percent increase in monthly male performance. L-Citrulline is converted into arginine, an amino acid, which produces nitric oxide. Nitric oxide relaxes blood vessels and improves blood circulation throughout the body.   Who knew that a whole food, plant-based diet can not only help reverse severe conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, it has a host of other benefits. Can this common fruit take the place of a little blue pill? Nutritionist Dr. Michael Greger explains. Up to three quarters of men with cholestrol-narrowed coronary arteries have some degree of erectile dysfunction. There are drugs like Viagra but they are a temporary and expensive solution. Plant-based diets — and particularly watermelon — can play an important in fighting ED – See more at: http://www.therealfoodchannel.com/videos/healthy-foods/watermelons-got-it-all.html#sthash.jKM1TpB1.dpuf
